Why Do Couples Therapy?


We start relationships with good intentions and love and then life often happens. What do we do when we find ourselves feeling out of touch, not in sync or alignment with our partner? What if the trust has been broken? Or we want to start on a new path with our partner and aren't sure how to do it? Couples therapy can help us open up the lines of communication in a safe way. We can learn healthy ways to resolve differences, how to really listen to our partner and how to stay connected. Even if there are no obvious issues in our dynamic, couples therapy can still be helpful in exploring topics that we may feel uncomfortable sharing with our partner. As an Imago trained couples therapist of 10 years and a holistic therapist of 27 years, I ask couples to hold loving, nonjudgmental space for their relationship. To treat it like a plant that needs nurturing, care, sunlight, water and love. As a collaborative team, we approach the relationship with tenderness and care and look to strengthen it, heal it and honor it.
